Welcome to Helmsley Open Air Swimming Pool’s 2022 website

The Pool will close this year on Sunday 11 September 2022 when the students we train as Lifeguards return to college or university.

We will be offering our Cool Pool Swims on Saturdays until the 15 October. The water will not be heated but this is an invigorating experience not to be missed with many health benefits. Wet suits can be used if you wish. These cannot be supplied by the Pool.

On this website you can check swimming session times, prices, our events page for availability for our Aquathlons, Triathlon, Aquarobics, see if a session is full, buy tickets both very useful if you are
coming a long way; hire the pool for private use, and read our policies on child safety and a whole lot more.

Our charges for 2022 have risen because of the ‘usual’ suspects! Electricity and heating oil have risen by over 150%, wages rises for the Lifeguards, increased prices for the bin collections……..I could go on but I am sure you understand.

We have, we believe, removed the gremlins from last year when the Pool had to close early, we have certainly been working at it over the winter.

Please check out the rest of the website there is lots more information on the other pages, don’t be nervous about using our online booking system it worked very well last year, so let’s all hope for a fine and sunny summer. I think it’s fair to say we probably deserve one!

Our changing rooms, and toilets remain in a poor state as we have been unable to raise the funds to replace them. They are however serviceable and clean. If you wish to make or leave a donation toward the new ones you can do so here or at the Pool.

Yorkshire’s only 25m heated open air pool. We are a Charity (1184090) providing affordable outdoor swimming and a ‘holiday atmosphere’ to our local community and many visitors. Nestling in the North York Moors National Park, our open air pool is in the heart of the countryside.

First time here tonight! Warm, friendly welcome. Really lovely pool, so clean and a joy to watch the sky as you swim. And a great cup of tea afterwards. Really enjoyed ourselves, can’t wait to come back!

Had an absolutely brilliant night at the apogee moon swim. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the pool is lovely. Well worth a little drive out. Can’t wait for the next one!
We enjoyed a wonderful time at this lovely pool today ,friendly attentive lifeguards, changing rooms and toilets inside, showers outside, drinks and ice-lollies etc to purchase.A fabulous pool set against the backdrop of grassy hills and sheep..just perfect we shall return.

Primary School Swimming Initiative

Like many of us, the pool feels that the lockdowns of recent years disproportionately affected primary school children, perhaps the age group with least to fear from COVID.
We pretty much have every morning Private Hire – 9am-11am or 10am – 11am available Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays between now and the end of term.
These one or 2 hour slots are available to schools / charities at a reduced rate. We’ve written to our local primaries with details of these and are delighted to have received bookings already.
However if we missed you or our email is ‘stuck in spam’ please visit our website & private hire page for available slots.
We realise school budgets are stretched, therefore we are inviting our users to donate specifically to a bursary fund that will be shared across all those primary schools that visit us. Please give what you can at the link below
