Temperature   We aim for 26-28 degrees centigrade, please remember though that outside ambient temperatures can vary which does affect the Pool’s water temperature.

What is the difference between Fun Sessions and Open Swim Sessions?

A fun session is when inflatables and toys are allowed in the Pool. We provide some, others can be brought in provided they are not too big, and the focus in on having fun.

An open swim focusses on less frenetic activities, but not completely, and is more inclined toward swimming.

Can I bring my well-behaved pet to the Pool?

Sadly no. This is a ruling for the whole sports site not just the pool and the rule is set by the site owner from whom the Pool leases its facility.

Under 4 years olds visiting the Pool?

When you book online you will reach a point where the process asks if you are bringing any under 4-year-olds with you. We do not charge for under 4-year-olds BUT we need to know they are coming for safety reasons. Please advise the system of how many 4-year-olds will be coming with you when you book. You will not be charged for them. Please also read through our Terms and Conditions page which shows what we expect of parents and/or guardians bringing children to the Pool. Waterproof nappies can save a lot of embarrassment for tots.


Tickets can be purchased online for all sessions at the Pool. It is also possible just to call in at the pool and pay on the door. BUT why risk not being able to swim at the Pool because its full for your chosen session when you can be sure of a ticket when you check availability and book online?

Changing Your Booking

How do I move my booking?

If you need to move your swim session to another day you can do this up to 72 hours before your scheduled session.

You can move your session by following doing the following:

  1. Log into your Helmsley Pool account, here
  2. Once logged in, click “View all” next to “Orders”
  3. Click on the order you want to amend
  4. After you have clicked on the order, click on the “Move Dates” button
  5. This will bring up the rebooking calendar. From here you can select a new date to move to.

Note: You can only change to a date with spaces available, marked on the calendar as green.

Cancellations and Refunds

If you decide to cancel your booking a refund will only be given where a minimum of 72 hours’ notice is given, please email us  to request cancellation of a booking by providing:

The email address used to make the booking.
The name your booking is under.
The reference number provided on your ticket.

No refunds or exchanges will be given for unused tickets or where the customers cannot make the session/event they have purchased tickets for if 72 hours’ notice is not given.


The Pool has a free car park and an overflow car park to the north of the pool compound for busy days. When you have finished your swim please do not leave you car at the Pool to visit Helmsley.

Our parking is finite, and others will be seeking your space.

Disabled Swimmers

Currently the Pool has very limited resources for the physically disabled.  It is something that is being worked on with the proposed new build of the domestic offices.

There is a hoist for delivering people into the Pool and for a small charge getting them out as well!

Carers are not charged for their visit and concessionary charges apply to the disabled. Please advise the Pool if a carer is coming with you via email to


We do charge for spectators for those accompanying swimmers and those tickets are only available at the Pool on the day. If we make spectator tickets available online the system counts them as swimmers and the numbers using the pool are reduced by one for each spectator.


We are unable to monitor all our social media all the time. There is only a very small volunteer force to handle visitor contact, so Instagram, Twitter, Facebook (META) etc very much take a back seat in our dealing with clients. We do however respond to emails

within 24 hours (usually less). If you require a response and the answer is not shown on this page please email us.


We do have a telephone number which in truth is rarely answered. Why? Because we only employ Lifeguards, and their job is to save lives, not answer the telephone. Also please do not query the Lifeguards over tickets, sessions, etc they are not empowered to answer questions on the online system and need to be poolside to be there for swimmers who may get into trouble.

Private Hires are not bookable online for safety reasons and require checking dates and time slots are available before downloading a Booking Form and returning it to
