Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Fun Sessions and Open Swim Sessions?

During a fun session the focus is on having fun and inflatables and appropriate toys are allowed in the Pool. We provide some, and you can bring your own provided they are deemed suitable by our lifeguard/volunteers.

Everyone is welcome to an open session. There are no inflatables or toys in an open session, although some may be allowed/provided at the lifeguard’s discretion.

Changing facilities

We currently have separate changing for men and women.

Our facilities are basic and we suggest people arrive with their swimwear on under their clothes and change poolside. We do not have lockers and ask visitors to take their bags and personal items outside and leave them at a bench poolside.

We have two outdoor unheated showers.

Bringing children?

Under 4 years olds visiting the Pool?

We do not charge for under 4s BUT we need to know they are coming for safety reasons. Please advise the system of how many 4-year-olds will be coming with you when you book. You will not be charged for them. Children under 4 must be supervised on a 1:1 basis and this adult cannot supervise any other children under 8. Read our Terms and Conditions which explain what we expect when bringing children to the Pool. Waterproof nappies can save a lot of embarrassment for tots.

Tickets

Tickets are available online for all sessions and events at the Pool and online booking is recommended. It is possible to pay on the door, but our sessions are frequently sold out.

Changing Your Booking

How do I move my booking?

If you need to move your swim session to another day you can do this up to 24 hours before your scheduled session. Please click the ‘view booking’ link in your confirmation email.

Note: You can only change to a date with spaces available.

Cancellations and Refunds

If you decide to cancel your booking a refund will only be given where a minimum of 48 hours notice is given. Please click the ‘view booking’ link in your confirmation email.

Parking

The Pool has a free car park and an overflow car park for busy days. When you have finished your swim, please do not leave your car at the Pool to visit Helmsley.

Disabled Swimmers

We regret, the pool currently has limited access for the physically disabled. There is a hoist. The best way to determine whether you wil be able to access the pool is to email info@helmsleyopenairpool.org with your phone number and we will give you a call back.

Carers are not charged for their visit and concessionary charges apply to the disabled. Please advise the Pool if a carer is coming with you via email to info@helmsleyopenairpool.org.

Non-Swimmers

We do charge for spectators for those accompanying swimmers who are not getting in the pool, please pay at the pool on the day.

Contact

We are unable to monitor our social media all the time. There is only a very small volunteer force to handle visitor contact, so Instagram, X, Facebook (META) etc very much take a back seat. We do however respond to emails  info@helmsleyopenairpool.org within 24 hours (usually less). If you require a response, and, the answer is not shown on this page please email us.
