Helmsley Pool seeks help with Solar investment in bid to hold 2024 Prices

2024 was an amazing season for the pool however BUT we were:

  1. Turning swimmers away as our small filters struggled to cope with demand
  2. A plastic sheet on the roof trying to keep our plant room watertight
  3. Facing our highest ever electricity bill from running the water pumps

The total cost of the scheme has been £60K and with the help of North Yorkshire Council we have:

  1. Larger and more effective filters – increasing water quality and bather load
  2. A new mono pitched south facing roof – to see us through the next 50 years
  3. 12no. solar panels – using renewable energy and reducing electricity costs

Whilst NYC and our own funds are covering most of the cost of the works, we have had to use up our contingency funds to complete the works.  The extent to which the rear of the plant room had to be rebuilt and the advised full re-wire to facilitate the solar panels were’nt originally costed. To replenish these funds we either need to increase our prices or ask for donations towards the investment.

If we can reach our just giving target of £3325 (half of the solar panel cost and half of the overspend) we will hold our 2024 pricing. The pool reopens Saturday 24th May for more information www.helmsleyopenairpool.org
